GALBUSERA. VIAGGIO DI SOLA ANDATA
Lu.C.C.A. – Lucca Center of Contemporary Art
From 2 December 2017 to 4 February 2018
curated by Maurizio Vanni
Galbusera sees the journey as a constant striving towards knowledge through an enterprising, exciting and unpredictable abandonment to the unexplored. Galbusera’s journey is only one way. It is a journey devoid of hesitation or uncertainty that aims to be a quest for knowledge linked to a desire for the new, following the instinctive attraction for what we usually see as alien or other.
The volumes within each work are treated as though they were a single form, as a single simplified and synthetic profile that causes every original iconographic reference, every possible direct meaning of the composition to be lost. The wood sculptures are a collection of impressions, evocations and thoughts, which, despite the constant attempt at abstraction, never completely hide the fact that they originate in organic forms and real figures. Thus groups of unusual, yet nearly always familiar forms take shape and appear before our eyes in an interplay of relaxed and dynamic relationships.
